Neriman Polat was born in Istanbul in 1968.

She received a degree in painting from Mimar Sinan University Fine Arts Department in 1990. She also belonged to a philosophical art research group for several years that explored the structure and nature of art.

In 1999 her work was exhibited in İstanbul Biennal, and in the following year she helped to organize the exhibition Domestic Products at the Karşı art workshop in İstanbul, and participated in its sequel “Native Voices” held in 2001. In 2002 Polat has exhibited her work in Germany, Bulgaria and Greece and has participated in several group shows in İstanbul.
